3. When do the batteries need replacement?

It is extremely difficult to determine the actual life span of a battery. There are many fractures that effect battery shelf life that will dictate its longevity. We recommend that you change your backup battery once every two years. However, this may not be necessary. Your keypad will normally display a low battery warning when the battery needs to be replaced.

If you have wireless sensors the batteries in those devices are not rechargeable. However these batteries last many months or even years and rarely need replacement, when they fail, replace them immediately. Wireless devices in a high traffic areas such as a hallway or entry may need battery replacement long before one in a less often used area. When that happens the keypad will normally display a low battery warning when a battery needs replacement.

4. Why is my system false alarming?

First take a look at what zone is causing the alarm. This is your first step in discovery and resolution of the issue. Depending on the device and zone you will have enough clues to resolve the issue.

The most common causes of false alarms are due to a motion detectors that have triggered because it is faulty or failing. In most cases motion detectors trigger when movement and heat are detected. Make sure that there are no objects in the sight of the motion detector that may cause movement while your system is in an armed state; such as, balloons & plants effected by air movement in the room. Also, as you are cleaning your office or home, make sure to wipe away any cob webs that may have formed in or around the motion detector.

Monthly - YOUR LIFE MAY DEPEND ON IT !

Smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors and home intrusion break-in events require the system to work properly. TEST YOUR SYSTEM MONTHLY ! ! ! You should check and verify that the system is working properly every month when you receive your monitoring bill. You also need to review the User Manual for your security system for testing instructions. You are responsible for testing your system to insure its proper operation. If you are unsure, Rottweiler Security will be glad to help insure your security system is functioning properly. 770-529-5678

7. What if the telephone is in use when the system goes into alarm?

Each Rottweiler Alarm System is designed to have proper “line-seizure” when it communicates with the Monitoring Center . If you are on the phone while your alarm goes off, the alarm system will take control of your phone line briefly to communicate. After the alarm is done communicating, your phone line will be released back into your home or office for your use.

NOTE: For Cellular and Web-Enabled users this does not apply. Your system uses other forms of communication and does not interrupt the telephone lines.

We also highly recommend cellular back up in case of a line cut. To understand more about line cuts and security system vulnerabilities >>> CLICK HERE.

8. Why does my keypad display say "not ready"?

The “Not Ready” display on most security systems indicates that the system is not ready to arm. Make sure that all doors and windows are completely closed and there is no movement in front of any motion detector. If each zone is returned to a normal state, the system will be “Ready” to arm.

Back to the security questions

9. How do I bypass a zone on my security system?

You may refer to your system User Manual for proper instructions. On most of our systems you can simply press the Bypass button, then the Zone Number, and enter Bypass, Bypass. This feature will reset once the system has been disarmed and must be re-entered each time you want to use the bypass feature.

Back to the security questions

10. Why does my keypad display read "No AC"?

Your Rottweiler System requires AC power provided for normal operation and connected by a transformer. That transformer usually is located near the control panel and will be plugged into a normal wall receptacle. Once power has been restored to the system the display should return to a normal state.

11. Why should my security system be monitored by a central station?

YOUR LIFE MAY DEPEND ON IT ! ! ! 6 % of all structure fires result in a fire fatality. Those fatalities are usually caused because someone could not exit the building quick enough. Without monitoring, no one will be contacted quick enough to respond to your life threat if you are in the home.

Home Invasion happens 60% of the time during the day while you are at work. If you do not keep monitoring your security system your neighbor will not be watching during those hours to insure that your home is protected.

There are also reduced rates of home owners insurance for keeping your security system professionally monitored. The most obvious is the automatic reporting of alarms. Because the alarm system monitors it's own system status, it can alert us to many things that may require attention before they become a problem.

12. Will my Security Security System work with VoIP?

With today's changing technology, you may want use SIP, VoIP services, clear choice, u-verse or xFinity for your business or home. This adds multiple levels of possible failure to the communication of alarm signals to the alarm center. Rottweiler's Web-Enabled security uses your Internet connection. If your Internet connection goes down, we notify you. The connection is checked every 8 - 12 seconds for connectivity. It is always highly recommended that a cellular communicator be installed just in case you are not watching your notifications and are unavailable.

We recommend Rottweiler's Web-Enabled Security Systems because of the control and information it gives your businesses.

This is a number that is typically required by your city or county to help your local police jurisdiction keep track of security system installations and contact information associated with your address. In Cobb County Georgia this is a requirement and having a security system does not guarantee their response. It does not guarantee a response to the correct address or suite number because they maintain their own data base of this information.
